Today is Monday, February 19 2024, I learned about argumentative text. There are several things I learned ;

Theory ;

1. Leangue function : Argumentative text is text whose contents are opinions that are supported by evidence, reasons and  examples, so that readers can trust the author's arguments.

2. Text structure      : 

• Title : Titles are useful to make it easier for readers, viewers or users to recognize and select the reading/watching material they want.

• Thesis : Introduce topic and indicates the writer's posisition.
• Arguments : Contain arguments to support the writer's position.
• Recommendation : Contain recommendation about the issue.

3. Leangue features :

Language elements or language Features of Argumentative Text include:

• Abstract nouns (cannot be seen, heard, or touched), for example, beauty, bravery, culture,confidence, goodners.
• Action Verb, verbs that describe actions that humans or animals can take, for example, eat, touch, Talk, watch, walk.
• Temporal Connectivero,vocabulary that connecte and event to another in sequence, for example Firstly, secondly, thirdly
• Modal Auxiliaries,some forms of modal, for example: can, may, must, should.
• Technical Terms,special terms related to the theme we raiso, for example, examination, score, assessment, evaluarion, fest.
• Reasoning Connectives,vocabulary that shows a relationship of reasons, for example: because of, so, therefore.
• Simple Present Tense,dominated by sentences in the form of simple present tense.

Text 1 ;

  Congestion in Jakarta has reached an alarming level. Every morning, rows of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles fill every street in Jakarta. Moreover, not only in the morning, even in the afternoon the roads in Jakarta will experience heavy vehicle rain.

    The lack of interest of road users in choosing public transportation is one of the reasons. They prefer to drive private vehicles rather than public transportation. Apart from that, the number of vehicles which always increases every year is not balanced with the width of the roads in Jakarta. As a result, traffic jams in Jakarta have reached a very worrying level.

Text 2 ;

     SMAN 1 Semarang School was named the best school in Indonesia. This school produces many outstanding students.

  This is proven by the existence of Olympic champions who come from this school. More than that, other achievements are also proud, apart from academics, there are other fields that also highlight achievements such as sports and arts.

  Last year this school sent 20 athletes to represent Indonesia in the Sea Games championship. This school choir has also participated in international choir contests in Barcelona, Spain.

    Such a satisfactory achievement does not just happen like that, but it is all due to the training and hard work of the teacher council and also the school committee who always promise to be able to produce students with excellent graduates.
